Renovation of Alexandrium shopping centre in Rotterdam
Shopping area Alexandrium is the largest shopping centre in Rotterdam consisting of a shopping centre, 17 megastores and the livingmall with 55 shops. With over 200 covered shops, Klépierre Management Nederland is the owner. The shopping centre is undergoing a metamorphosis and will be given a fresh and contemporary look so that it better suits today's customers. Novicon has been commissioned by AKOR Rijssen to assemble the steel structures and the roof and wall cladding.
What will we do?
In the first construction phase, most of the passive roofs are removed and replaced. When the existing roof is dismantled, we install new steel columns and edge beams and reinforcements in the existing steel beams. Next, the steel is mounted in the roof plane. Then the roof panels are laid, the cladding and the sandwich panels are mounted on the side wall.
An important starting point is that the shops must remain open during the construction phase. To guarantee this, a temporary work floor will be built. Shoppers will walk under the work floor while construction work takes place on the work floor. During the period that the roof is open and the existing roof construction is replaced for the new roof construction, two pieces of tents will be placed during the construction period in order to optimize the construction process.
